The program was launched on July 15, 2015, by the Hon'BLE Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It is part of the larger "Make in India" campaign, which aims to encourage domestic manufacturing and promote job creation.
Key objectives of Skill India:
Skill development mission Haryana:
Provide training and development programs to improve the employability of youth in various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, information technology, healthcare, and more.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Recognize and certify existing skills of individuals acquired informally to integrate them into the organized workforce.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation:
Encourage entrepreneurship by offering support and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses.
Public-Private Partnership (PPP):
Promote collaboration between the government, industries, and training providers to deliver high-quality skill development programs.
Placement assistance courses:
Facilitate the placement of skilled individuals in relevant job roles and create linkages between employers and job seekers.
Inclusivity:
Ensure equal participation in skill development opportunities for women, differently abled individuals, and other marginalized sections of society.
Rural skill development mission:
Extend skill development programs to rural areas to address the urban-rural divide and provide opportunities for rural youth.
Various government ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), collaborate to implement Skill India effectively.

Soft skills are typically harder to quantify but are essential for success in teamwork, leadership, communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
